Alex Choo contacted me about his Wordpress text ads plugin. WP text ads allows Wordpress users to offer text links for sale directly from their blog. You have the option to offer homepage only, site wide or per post ads.
How much do Choo charge
At the moment there are 2 versions of the plugin, one being a free version and one being a pay for version. The pay for version allows you to sell unlimited links where as the free version you are limited to 2 homepage ads, 2 sitewide ads and 2 ads for each individual post. At the time of writing the full version is $127.
WP text ads free or paid
The free version is quite limited in terms of non per post links but would only be suitable for an unestablished site, you wouldn’t want to lose sales. The paid version does seem a bit steep for a plugin although if you have an established site the outlay would be worth the time it saved.
What’s the alternative
You could go with TLA which manages all the sales for you and has an established ready made marketplace. Of course the cost of this is the commission you are charged.
You could sell ads directly and manually ad, remove and manage links. I do this myself but it does require quite a bit of time to manage the whole process.
