Text advertising methods

If you are looking to use text advertising effectively then you need to know which forms of text ads are currently being used in the online world.

Text links

The oldest form of text advertising is the text link. A text link is a keyword or set of keywords that form a link such as this text ads. This sort of link is commonly used for sponsor links.

The aim of these sorts of links are primarily to drive traffic to a site and also to influence the search engines by loading the anchor text with your preferred keywords. The anchor text is the words used between the HTML ‘a’ tags in your web page.

Contextual text links

Another way to use text links is to use them contextually within a block of text or a paragraph. There are a couple of ways that this is achieved. There are the in-text programs that automatically turns certain keywords into links.

The other popular methods of contextually concealing links is within a paid review. A paid review usually consists of several paragraphs with multiple links including deep links pointing back to the reviewed site.

Deep links are links to individual pages within a site other than the home page. They are used to direct traffic to specific pages that the webmaster wishes to promote.

Sponsored text links

These are a cross between a simple text link and a contextual link. They are often used on blogs and RSS feeds and appear as a small text ad usually only a sentence long.

A common option is for these types of text ads to appear at the top or more often at the end of a blog post.
