Paid reviews went mainstream when Pay Per Post launched to much internet media frenzy. Blogging stalwarts were up in arms but as the buzz died so did the overt controversy. Paying someone to review your site or getting paid to review another site is not considered controversial anymore.
Review Me has grabbed the high end of the review market and now act as brokers for many bloggers including big names who can command several hundred dollars per review. If you are looking to get in on the whole Paid reviews game don’t expect to get anywhere near this figure unless you have an established authoritative site.
Getting paid to review
As a blogger you can sign up for an account and then add your blog. Your blog will have to meet some minimum requirements so there may be a chance your blog will not be accepted. Once you have a blog that has been accepted it will be added to the marketplace and you just need to wait for people to ask for reviews.
Having used Review Me there are a few things you can do to increase your chances of getting review offers. Firstly let your readers know you accept paid reviews, you can do this by displaying the Review Me button or just telling your readers in a post.
At the moment Review Me decide how much a review on your blog will fetch. Of the price charged you will get half. The more traffic your blog attracts the higher the cost of a review for a potential advertiser.
Paying for a review
As a buyer of paid reviews you get to browse their marketplace of blogs by searching using keywords. From a list of potential sites, of which you can sort by price or rank, you can choose a blog that matches your criteria to view some stats and visit the site itself.
Is Review Me any good?
Review Me seems to have attracted some well respected sites such as John Chow who makes a significant amount of his income using this service. John does provide very good reviews for his customers, then again he is charging $400 per review.
On the other end of the scale there are some pretty poor sites who provide little in the way of a review. These tend to be the blogs on the lower end of the scale who are charging the minimum $40 per review. I have seen a few reviews that are little more than a paragraph with a few links and offer nothing in the way of useful content for the reader.
Advertisers, do your research
If you do decide to use Review Me as an advertiser make sure you read the publishers previous reviews and decide if you are getting value for money. If not you may as well just buy some deep links with the money.
Publishers
For potential publishers, unless you are willing to do a proper review you are not going to get many buyers. You need to be offering added value to both your readers and the advertiser even if you are charging bottom dollar.
